Disaster relief, carried out by the World Mission Society Church of God(WMSCOG)
My first Experience of Disaster Relief program in WMSCOG
My parents used to join volunteering activities in their youth. Even when they got married, they continued to help people who are in need. So, naturally, I grew up with the mind that helping people is good and worthy. And I often join disaster relief programs. One day, my friend who knew that I am fond of volunteering invited me to the disaster relief program held in her church. And I said “Yes, why not?” without hesitation. The activity was really good. I could feel the warmth from the members of the Church of God(WMSCOG). As the activity goes on, I became curious about this Church of God which was different from other organizations.
Disaster Relief Activities carried out by WMSCOG in many countries
After the program, I visited the church and watched the intro video. I thought this church started in the Philippines, but it was first established in Korea and now it is located all around the world. And in every region from many countries like Korea, America, Nepal, England, and Peru, volunteering activities and disaster relief were being done. Most surprisingly, they received a lot of awards from the president and city mayors of the country because of inspiring disaster relief activities and cleaning activities from Church of God(WMSCOG) members. And in 2010 the Church of God donated contributions to the UN for the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. After watching the intro video, I was very touched. It’s because everyone who received help from the Church of God members was full of thankfulness as if their worries had gone.
Church of God(WMSCOG) was invited to UN CERF because of their Continuous activities for disaster relief
About a month ago, I watched a video of the UN CERF 2017 High-level conference. And there, the general pastor of the world mission society Church of God(WMSCOG) delivered a speech. It was really amazing!! The Church of God was invited to the conference because of its continuous disaster relief activities and cleaning movement. And the church is said to be the first church invited to the UN CERF Conference. The General Pastor said that saving one soul is saving the world and promised to be with UN in helping the people in need around the world. So I was very proud to be a part of this church and promised myself to do best in helping the people both physically and spiritually. And I hope and believe everyone living in the world would live in a better world with better circumstances.
